cult status web log achievement happens not only by content but by market segmentation (or as I like to call it Market Fascism).
Sorry I think that was my snippet toolbar for sure no real pun intended.
This is done by attitudinal research and a lot of common sense.
many people are stuck on Mass Advertising technique's, If you have a Blog that is very personal; specific, then you should realize how much more money your blog is worth than those targeting huge audiences.
search engines have completely stopped sending irrelevant traffic as I have all ready said, If your site does not contain a high ratio of people that do not bounce without viewing content on your site, or a high percentage of return traffic... Your site will get dropped and eventually most search engines will consider it trash and even blacklist it.

HowTo: Famed Not Flamed
HowTo: Famed Not Flamed
With the ever increasing number of totally useful blogs that are pretty much based on blogging;
Here is a quick rundown on what you want to look for.
1) Traffic from Search Engines - ALL WAYS TRACK VISITORS MOVEMENTS
2) Once you get the traffic, Make sure it does not bounce without exploring your site, under 50% of visitors bouncing is good. It is said that if nearing 80% of your visitors leave you will get dropped by search engines
3) Try to keep your percentage of repeat visitors to 30% if that is not the case you will surely die.
4) It is a MUST to Include links back to other, and relevant posts. If for no other reason people are stealing your posts and syndicating them on add sites so you might as well get a link back inside the content if nothing else.
